Check your dealer quote

Use the manufacturer price as a reference, then compare two itemised quotes for the same trim, colour and model year. We do not yet have transaction data to label a negotiated price “fair”.

Vehicle & statutory charges
Separate the ex-showroom price, registration, road tax and applicable statutory charges. Ask which location and invoice date apply.
Insurance & optional items
Compare equivalent insurance cover. Ask for accessories, service packs and extended warranties as separate optional lines.
Discounts & finance
Get the discount and its conditions in writing. Compare the total loan repayment, fees and down payment, not just the monthly instalment.
For an electric SUV
Check whether the price includes the battery, charger and installation. A battery subscription or separate battery loan is an additional ownership cost.

Editorial overview

The Creta wins on the things you notice on day 400, not day 4: ride quality on bad roads, resale, and a dealer within reach of almost anywhere. It is not the most exciting car here and the base trims are poorly equipped for the money. Buy the SX with the 1.5 petrol and stop reading comparisons.

Editorial buying guidance, not a road-test report. Confirm trim-specific equipment before deciding.

Pros and cons

Reasons to consider it

  • Ride quality over broken surfaces is still the best in the segment — it absorbs a Pune pothole where the Seltos thumps.
  • Resale after three years is consistently 3–6 percentage points ahead of everything except a Maruti.
  • The 1.5 diesel is genuinely economical in the real world, not just on the ARAI sheet.
  • Dealer coverage means a Tier-3 breakdown is an inconvenience, not a holiday.

Things to weigh up

  • The E and EX trims are badly equipped for what they cost — no sunroof, small screen, cloth everywhere. Hyundai knows you will stretch.
  • The 1.5 naturally-aspirated petrol feels flat above 100 km/h with four people aboard.
  • Third-row-adjacent boot space is average for the size; 433 litres is fine, not generous.
  • The panoramic sunroof eats real headroom for anyone over about 5'11".

Worth knowing before you sign

  • ADAS is only on the top two trims and it is Level 2 in the marketing sense — treat it as lane-keep plus adaptive cruise, not autonomy.

Alternatives to consider

Every alternative here comes with the specific condition under which it is the better buy. A list of rivals without that is a list of links.
