Check your dealer quote
Use the manufacturer price as a reference, then compare two itemised quotes for the same trim, colour and model year. We do not yet have transaction data to label a negotiated price “fair”.
- Vehicle & statutory charges
- Separate the ex-showroom price, registration, road tax and applicable statutory charges. Ask which location and invoice date apply.
- Insurance & optional items
- Compare equivalent insurance cover. Ask for accessories, service packs and extended warranties as separate optional lines.
- Discounts & finance
- Get the discount and its conditions in writing. Compare the total loan repayment, fees and down payment, not just the monthly instalment.
- For an electric SUV
- Check whether the price includes the battery, charger and installation. A battery subscription or separate battery loan is an additional ownership cost.
Editorial overview
At roughly ₹1.30 per km against ₹6.50 for the petrol, the Nexon EV pays for its premium in about four years of city driving — and in Maharashtra and Delhi it is road-tax-exempt on top. Charging infrastructure is the constraint, not the car. Buy the 45 kWh Empowered+.

Pros and cons
Reasons to consider it
- A 489 km certified range on the 45 kWh pack, which in practice means a comfortable 380–420 km.
- Road-tax exempt in Maharashtra, Delhi, Karnataka and several other states — often ₹1.5–2.5 lakh saved on the on-road price.
- Five stars in Bharat NCAP for both adult and child protection.
- Vehicle-to-load on the top trim can run household appliances, which is genuinely useful in India.
Things to weigh up
- DC fast charging is 40 minutes to 80% at best, and finding a working 50 kW charger outside a metro is still luck.
- 1,570 kg kerb weight makes it feel heavy through quick direction changes.
- Resale on Indian EVs is still unproven and currently weaker than petrol equivalents.
- The 30 kWh version's real-world range drops sharply with AC on in summer traffic.
Worth knowing before you sign
- Certified range is a lab figure. Budget 75–80% of it for real-world planning, less in summer with the AC running.
Alternatives to consider
